Garden landscaping is often a professional job however with some insightful inspiration and meticulous planning it can also be a DIY job. It’s important to carve out how you want to use the garden and to zone it into areas and then you can get inspiration for each zone. Typically, there is a seating area for eating and entertaining, a more relaxed seating area for lounging and a space for nature to flex and mould to the space to create a natural oasis from our hectic lifestyles.
In this article we’ll be focusing on the hardscaping of seating areas and how to create a foundation by using tiles for the garden. We’ve teamed up with ufurnish.com to create a range of looks under three typical garden styles, contemporary, traditional, and Moroccan.
Contemporary
The early 00s made decking a key element in garden design, designating a proper seating area however, decking is a poor investment that requires a lot of upkeep and replacing regularly. A great alternative is Everscape Wood, a wood effect tile that expertly replicates wood planks with the practicality, and safety, of a porcelain tile. Think of it as garden decking tiles, a new era in garden landscaping.
Garden tiles in grey immediately have a contemporary and sleek feel, choose a mid-toned grey for a concrete-like finish and pair with rounded, chunky furniture to provide a tactile and interesting element to the garden. For an alternative to the usual dining set, try bench seating made of concrete, we love the multi-purpose use of including a planter in the design, the greenery helping to break up the shades of grey. Choose structured plants that love a pot, opt for a range of heights from palms to succulents.
Lighting also plays a key role, choose wall lights for practicality, and then create interest on the ground with metal lanterns to create a more relaxed ambience.

Traditional
Classic gardens that have a traditionally English feel tend to lean towards flagstone style slabs however they’re quite difficult to keep clean and not overly safe in the typical British weather. The Everscape range is stain and slip resistant so all you need is a quick wipe over in the spring for a fresh-looking patio or garden path tiles all summer long.
The Everscape Pitsbury pattern tile replicates the look of mini flagstones for a more modern take on a classic look. Soften the edges of the tiles with cottage style planting, high climbing vines and heavily scented blooms. Slatted oak coloured furniture will contrast nicely with the grey and stick to neutral toned accessories such as cushions, throws and a hammock. Balance the look with muted greens and off-whites on wood or stone and burnished copper light fixtures.

Moroccan
An easy way to replicate a rustic Moroccan feel in your garden is by using colour and of course patterned garden tiles. Look to use earthy tones mixed with accents of bold primary colours. You can create pattern either by utilising a small format tile in a particular shape or opt for a printed pattern on a square tile. You can also create a decadent feel by using bold coloured tiles on the walls if you have an enclosed seating area.
A low corner sofa in a rich colour will best emulate the elegance and comfort of a five-star riad. Continue to mix and match styles of furniture and add in quirky accessories with a rustic vibe to finish the look. Warm subtle lights (and a couple of patio heaters!) are key to recreating those humid Moroccan evenings.
