Social Responsibility

For over ten years, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda has been subject to a process of continual development to ensure we are active within the communities in which we work.

We are proud of our achievements in this area and focus our attention across three primary areas:

In December 2021, Topps Tiles colleagues collectively voted to move on from our bountiful 7 year partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to give recognition to another charity and help aid another worthy cause. Alzheimer’s Society are the UK’s leading dementia charity. They campaign for change, fund research to find better treatments, and support people living with dementia today. There are currently 900,000 people in the UK living with dementia and this is set to rise to 1 million by 2025. Through our partnership we are aiming to raise £1 million for families affected by dementia across the UK. “We are delighted to have been chosen as Topps Tiles next charity partner. Someone develops dementia every 3 minutes and the money raised by Topps Tiles colleagues and customers will enable us to provide support for families affected by dementia when they need it most. In 2016, we partnered with Pennies, a fintech charity that enables micro-donations at the point of sale. We added Pennies’ ‘digital charity box’ to the tills in our stores and since 2021 to our online checkout too, allowing you to round up your purchases in-store and online and make a micro-donation. These donations help support our fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society which we began supporting in 2022. If all the donations made in the first 3 months of 2020 alone (January 1st -March 24th) were turned into real pennies, stacked up they would reach higher than the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro (that’s 6.6km to be exact!) Pennies has proven to be a great way to raise even more money for our chosen charity and we look forward to raising even more for Alzheimer’s Society in 2022 and beyond with a goal to raising £1 million for families affected by dementia in the UK. “Pennies would like to give a huge thanks to the team at Topps Tiles – for not only using our digital charity box solution to raise funds for charity – but for being such advocates for the digital micro-donation movement. Sponsorship of youth sport is an important part of our community relations programme. It is an exciting way for Topps Tiles to be involved in helping the children in our local communities get outdoors and become active.

Our stores are encouraged to build close relationships with local teams, and not only support them emotionally, but also with the equipment needed to ensure they can get active without the worry of buying items such as kits. We understand that at the heart of every community is a place where people get together – village halls, community centres, public libraries and exhibition spaces – and from time to time they need some TLC. As the UK’s tile specialist, we receive many requests from charities, community groups and not for profit organisations for support towards transforming their space. Our Community Spaces scheme allows communities to nominate their project to receive a donation of tiles.
