All five oak shades sit beautifully in any style of home, so it really comes down to the feel you’d like to create. Whitewashed and light oaks, for example, bring a soft, airy feel to a room, natural oak has a timeless warmth, and honey and antique tones add a cosy richness that looks especially striking laid in a herringbone flooring pattern down a hallway. Every shade comes in both plank and herringbone, and the durable lacquered finish keeps the oak easy to look after day to day, so it’s a lovely choice for kitchen flooring as well as bedrooms and living rooms.

What Is Hybrid Real Wood Veneer Flooring? ▾

Real wood veneer flooring, which is also known as Hybrid wood flooring, has a real layer of oak veneer on the surface rather than a printed design, so every board carries its own grain, tone and natural markings. It's finished with a durable lacquered top layer, sitting on a waterproof hybrid core, so you get the look and feel of real timber with the practicality of a click-fit floor underneath it.

Where Can Real Wood Veneer Flooring Be Fitted? ▾

It works well in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and utility rooms, and it's suitable for light commercial spaces too. The hybrid core copes fine with everyday splashes and spills, but it's not one for anywhere the floor would sit constantly wet, a shower tray, sauna or steam room, for instance.

Can I Use Hybrid Wood Flooring With Underfloor Heating? ▾

Yes, it works with both electric and water-fed systems, up to a maximum surface temperature of 27°C, with a minimum 20mm screed covering the heating elements. If you're putting furniture on top, raise it on legs at least 10cm high, and leave the heating switched off for at least 48 hours after fitting.

Can I Fit A Kitchen Island On Top Of My Real Wood Veneer Flooring? ▾

Yes, a kitchen island can sit directly on top of real wood veneer flooring without needing an expansion gap around its base. Fitted kitchen cabinets are the exception, treat those as fixed furniture and leave the correct expansion gap around them. If there are waste pipes leading into the island or the cabinets, those will need their own expansion gap too.

How Long Does Real Wood Veneer Flooring Need To Acclimatise Before Fitting? ▾

Real wood veneer flooring needs at least 48 hours to acclimatise, longer than some of our other ranges, since the oak surface needs a little extra time to settle into the room. Leave the packs flat and unopened, stored off the subfloor, in a room kept between 18°C and 24°C.

Do You Need Underlay With Real Wood Veneer Flooring? ▾

No, real wood veneer flooring already has underlay built in, each panel comes with a 1mm thick XPS foam layer glued to the base, so there's no need to add anything else underneath.

How Is It Best To Clean My Real Wood Veneer Flooring? ▾

Keep it simple, a regular vacuum or sweep to lift grit and dust before it can scratch the surface, and a damp cloth for anything spilled, wiped up as soon as you notice it. Steam mops are the one thing to avoid, as the heat and moisture can affect the finish over time.

Can Real Wood Veneer Flooring Be Fitted In A Conservatory? ▾

No, real wood veneer flooring isn't recommended for conservatories, the oak surface is too sensitive to changes in temperature and direct sunlight for that kind of room. If you're specifically fitting a conservatory, our SPC flooring is suitable instead.
