Utilising the best technology, premium materials and rigorous testing, the Rise underfloor heating solution is an affordable and effective way to heat your home. The no nonsense and uncomplicated heating system is easy to fit and use, providing peace of mind whilst preparing your home for the future. In this guide, we show you three helpful videos on how to install the Rise matting and loose wire cables as well as programming the Rise thermostat.
The Substrate
You can install the Rise underfloor heating system on four different substrates; concrete, cement screed, anhydrite and timber.

The substrates must be suitably prepared according to the manufacturer’s guidelines and we’d recommend using a suitable tile backboard with good thermal and insulation properties to ensure you get the most efficiency out of your underfloor heating system.
Rise Underfloor Heating Matting System
The Rise Underfloor Heating matting is available in pre-cut widths that can be easily rolled out across larger or open spaces and then cut to the desired length. The matting system can be used in conjunction with ceramic, porcelain and natural stone tiles in your bathroom, kitchen, hallway, conservatory and living room.

Once you’ve applied your insulating backerboard onto the substrate, it should be primed with a suitable priming solution.

Roll out your matting with the wire facing up, at the end of each run cut the mat (not including the wire) and turn the matting 180 degrees to continue laying the matting in the opposite direction.

Once complete, we recommend applying a thin layer of suitable flexible levelling compound over the matting using the flat edge of a trowel.

Your electrician can now connect the electrical connectors and once the levelling compound is dry, tiling can begin.
Rise Underfloor Heating Loose Wire System
The Rise Underfloor Heating loose wire system is ideal for fitting in intricate spaces or smaller rooms. You have the flexibility to lay the wire where you wish within the space, perfect for complex shapes or avoiding basins and pedestals etc.

The loose wire system can be used in conjunction with ceramic, porcelain and natural stone tiles in your bathroom, kitchen, hallway, conservatory and living room.

Once your insulating backerboard is fixed down, attach the provided double sided tape to the floor. You will need two strips at the start and end points of the room and another strip across the middle.

Mark out the desired intervals for the heating wire on the floor (the width is determined by the desired heating output – see below). Ensure a gap of 40mm is left between the wire and any perimeter wall.

Working in small sections, peel back the tape’s protective film and begin fixing the wire in parallel lines across the floor. Ensure to follow the interval markings on the floor, leaving the 40mm gap between the wire and any wall.

Desired heating output vs spacing width:

  • 200W/m2 – 60mm spacing

  • 175W/m2 – 70mm spacing

  • 150W/m2 – 80mm spacing
Rise Wi-Fi Thermostat
Get a head start on your new Rise underfloor heating system by viewing our easy to follow thermostat programming guide.

The Rise Wi-Fi enabled thermostat offers you total control over your Rise heating system. This helpful video showcases all of the product’s features so you know what to expect before it’s even installed in your home.

The Rise thermostats are designed to sit flush with the wall so a 35mm recessed box in the wall is recommended for a clean finish. They are designed to sit away from direct heat sources and should be placed outside of a bathroom. Your thermostat should always be installed by a qualified electrician.

After installation, the heating system should not be switched on for a minimum of two weeks, this will allow the tile adhesive to fully cure.

After this stage, the heating system should be increased by 1 degree per day until the desired temperature is reached.

Tried and tested by TÜV Rheinland UK (TÜV Rheinland is a leading provider of technical services worldwide). Our mats, cables and thermostats have been all tested by TÜV to the relevant international standard.

Coupled with the Installation Accident Safeguard Guarantee, a lifetime guarantee for the systems and a 3-5 year guarantee for the thermostats, the Rise range helps bring you peace of mind and cosy toes without the high price tag of ‘luxury’ underfloor heating.
