How to clean mosaic tiles

Mokara Mosaic

Mosaic tiles are often used as decorative accents within a tiled scheme, most commonly in the bathroom, this means they are susceptible to the same dirt and grime as your other tiles and therefore need to be properly cleaned and maintained to keep them looking as good as new.

In this guide we break down the simple steps on how to clean mosaic tiles.

Tile Mosaics

Traditionally mosaics were made up of pieces of ordinary ceramic tile but in the 1990s and early noughties we saw a rise in favour of the glass mosaic. The times are turning again and coordinating mosaics to porcelain or ceramic tile ranges are growing in popularity, this means that a lot of newer mosaics are made of the same materials as the rest of your wall or floor tiles. You can therefore clean these in the same way as your regular sized tiles, read our cleaning guide for some great tips on tile cleaning.

Glass Mosaics

If you’re opting for a glass mosaic then a simple solution of 50:50 water to white vinegar is a great, natural way to keep your mosaics looking fresh. Simply spray the solution onto the tiles, wait a minute or two and then wipe off with a damp cloth. If you keep this simple routine up on a regular basis then the grime will always clean off easier.

Grout Cleaning

As mosaics are much smaller than regular sized tiles you will have a lot more grout on show so it’s imperative that you clean the grout regular and properly to avoid build-up but also to protect the grout too.
