As excitement builds in anticipation of Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby hitting the big screen, interest in the art deco movement which shapes the story's backdrop has truly taken off. With its unique ability to look both vintage and undeniably modern, and the opulent colour and textures it brings with it, it's easy to see why.

It took the set creators 14 weeks just to build, paint, and decorate Gatsby's mansion for the new film, but without a grand ballroom, library and terrace to decorate, most of us could enjoy a twenties-inspired look in a slightly shorter time period!
