When renovating your home, it’s most common to stick to a neutral colour palette with bigger investment projects like the family bathroom and there’s nothing wrong with a good neutral scheme! It can be calming, easily adaptable over time and of course practical for reselling your home later.

Neutral colour palettes range from whites, beiges to different shades of grey and into black however, sometimes it can be hard to style these neutral tones within the confines of a bathroom so in this article we talk about what colour goes with grey tiles in a bathroom.

We’ll provide you with plenty of grey bathroom tiles ideas and of course how to use them in a variety of different styles to suit the typical family bathroom.

Creating Texture

If not done well, a neutral scheme can risk looking flat and lifeless, to avoid this you can add in different textures. The Regal Collection is the easiest way to achieve this as the same tile range covers lots of different finishes and styles whilst designed to work together.

For a bathroom, a slip resistant floor like Regal will keep the family safe in a wet area but you can build your scheme around this to include a frosted glass accent mosaic, a polished tile on the wall to rebound the natural light. You can even bring in other tiles with a different finish or pattern to complement it.

We love this slab of XL porcelain that replicates a white based marble, the grey veining ties it in with the grey room but it helps brighten up the room.

Colourful Ombre

To use the phrase ’50 shades of grey’, it’s important to note the impact that different tones of the same hue can have when put together. This classic bathroom has been given a modern edge by tiling in an ombre effect with a darker Matrix tile at the bottom and gradually getting lighter.

This is a great way to make a room feel taller or simply to add interest into a compact space, the glossy finish also helps make the most of the natural light.

Budget Buys

Being on a budget shouldn’t mean sacrificing your style. With our Get The Look For Less range you can shop a range of styles all for £25/m2 or less.

A grey favourite is Kelsey, available in 3 different tones of grey, personally though we love the lightest shade. It has a calming tranquil finish that replicates limestone and works particularly well with tones of white, perfect for revamping that inherited sanitary ware!

Looking for pattern? Why not try the classic Victoria but in a surprising grey tone, a step away from the traditional.

Natural Stone

Whether you live in a historic house or just want to emulate modern country style, adding a touch of natural stone into your bathroom is a quick way to get the look. We love the cool tone grey of Amazone with its flagstone-inspired modular pattern.

It’s cool varied tones also work well within a Scandi-vibe, just add in hints of rattan, matt black and neutral toned accessories for a revamp on classic white sanitary ware.

Classic Neutrals

Although grey is a modern shade, it can be dressed to suit a classic aesthetic, mix a darker shade of grey, with slick white glossy walls. A slim metro tile like Microline with a darker grout will keep it the right side of classic.

Only a roll top bath will do in this bathroom setting, you can find some good restoration projects on eBay, keep the look clean with a sparkling white tub and chrome legs. A streamlined shower screen will keep the attention on the bath whilst simple touches of greenery will provide the finishing touch.

Contemporary Shapes

Introduce a little geometric eccentricity with the Rhomba range, the Tekno Grey is a subtle nod to cement with its matt grey finish, you can even create a seamless look by using the matching full sized Tekno Grey on the floor.

Ensure the rest of the look is kept muted and simple to let the geometric pattern work its magic. If you did want something a little extra, marble or granite accents would perfectly complement the modern cement grey.
