Get outside and enjoy the sunshine this coming summer! We’ve pulled together three key themes that are perfect for even the smallest of courtyards. We explore the use of lighting, furniture and accessories to provide the perfect small garden décor. Starting from the foundation up, we put our garden styling cap on to perfectly pair these themes with our porcelain outdoor tile range, Everscape. A unique specialist outdoor tiling system suitable for a number of fitting solutions, making it the perfect choice for those smaller outdoor projects.

Transforming a concrete courtyard

Transform your city courtyard into a concrete oasis with a little outdoor styling. Soft ambient lighting, bold planting in rustic terracotta pots and patterned outdoor accessories transform the smallest of green patches. To add to the rustic vibe, choose decking underfoot, but better yet, a wood effect outdoor tile.

Compared to the rigorous upkeep of traditional wooden decking they’re made of porcelain so will last for years to come and require only a spring clean come the summer months. If you like the Brutalist look, opt for a plain grey concrete wall but if you want more of a Mediterranean flair then paint the wall white or cream. Dress the walls with some trailing jasmine, the vines look pretty but the delicate white flowers smell delicious too. Finish the look with some mid-century style furniture for a relaxed indoor-outdoor look.

Dressing an urban retreat

If you have a tiny city courtyard then it’s often quite difficult to get the planting right as you have minimal bedding space, but here’s one of the best flowerpot garden ideas we’ve seen. The mix of pot size and plant height is where the magic happens, it feels full and jungle-like for the perfect escape without overcrowding the path or main seating area. When planting in this style it’s a great idea to stick to tones of green so the plants almost act as a flow of neutral colour.

You can then supplement this chic aesthetic with a neutral foundation like Everscape. This is where you can add your character, for example you could go down the modern country route with a flagstone effect tile, add rustic texture with a pebbled effect or go full contemporary with a concrete effect.

Styling that morning coffee

Dressing your outdoor space comes down to how you want to use it. If you’re an entertainer, then a chic dining table set will get the most out of your space. However, if you’re a morning coffee drinker than a lounge chair and coffee table will be a chic addition to your morning routine. Here’s one of our favourite outdoor coffee table décor styles.

Complement a rustic square outdoor tile, like Everscape Valletta, with a round coffee table and soft squidgy outdoor furniture, we love this version from Soho Home with its metallic bottom. Dress your table with unique coasters and chic snack bowls and invest in some classic glassware for early evening cocktails.
