How To Achieve Modern Luxury

We've lived through the eras of stark minimalism, fifty shades of grey and color blocking so it's now time for something a little more refined, warming and glamorous. Modern luxury is an emerging trend that combines plenty of the current smaller trends into one gorgeous space; we're talking about mixed metals, reflective surfaces, sparkly finishes and of course a touch of pink.

Luxury has often been associated with dark bold colours, jewel-like wallpapers and busy, opulent looking furniture but that's all changing. This is where industrialism and luxury combine to create something new.

Stick to a simple colour palette to avoid the look becoming too traditional and stuffy; streamlined surfaces like our Nuriko tile will add sparkle and gloss whilst adding touches of metal will give the look depth and warmth. We love this deep jet hue paired with glossy pastel shades and the black contemporary shaped bath creates an eye-catching contrast tying the look together.

Mirrored tiles are having a bit of a moment but they can be a little daunting when thinking of how to use them in your own home. The antiqued finish of Busca makes a great kitchen splashback (aka it's harder to spot those pesky greasy stains), pair the bronze version with our Stonewash Blue Kinect tile for a real hit of drama, @anastasya.martynova.art has created an amazing kitchen centre piece which you can see on her Instagram.

Alternatively, the flat Busca tile can create a lovely feature wall, whether that be on a chimneybreast as an actual mirror or used as a centrepiece in a bathroom. Keep the look traditional with a dark wood effect floor, painted wall panelling and heritage style fixtures.

Marble is traditionally a luxury product and certainly an investment but by choosing the right type of marble, you can create any style you want. Classic Carrara, with a white base and light great veining, can be made modern with off-white walls, glass blown pendant lighting and a chunky industrial-inspired table for a light and airy dining room.
