Transform your home with our hallway decor ideas, the first room that greets your guests and welcomes you home day after day. Your hallway should reflect you and your home and help seamlessly connect with the other rooms in your house to create a harmonious theme.

We’ll explore how to create different looks using typical hallway decoration, from modern to classic styles to suit all types of homes. From walls to floors, furniture to accessories, we’ve got your inspiration mood board covered!

Vintage

Recreate the Victorian aesthetic with a beautifully classic chequered floor tile. Ruzzini’s subtle marbling effect adds a touch of luxury and as it has four smaller tiles in one larger square, you can create a quick and easy diamond effect by laying it diagonally, perfect for drawing the eye up your hallway into the home.

Vintage hallway ideas are easy to recreate when you have the perfect foundation. With a monochromatic floor tile, you can easily add colour to your walls. Here we’ve gone for a bold splash of blue, but you could tap into something more authentically Victorian if you’d prefer. If you’re sticking to stereotypical Victorian furnishings, which are usually made from mahogany, rosewood and walnut, then a lighter hue on the walls will stop the space becoming too dark.

Classic

A classic take on a hallway feels very traditional whilst making the most of the proportions of the room. Typical Georgian properties, where the inspiration comes from, often have high ceilings and a narrow floor space. If you’re recreating the look in a more contemporary home, then a great decorative wall idea for the hallway would be to add some panelling. You can use this technique to help create the illusion of higher or longer walls. For the floor, you can use a herringbone hallway design which will draw the eye down whilst creating the illusion of more width.

As you’re adding in decorative techniques, keep the rest of the look simple. A basic colour on the walls and a typical wood effect on the floor, like Andira Rural Oak.

Country

Tap into the subtle luxury of a country style hallway, depending on your style and taste, you can either make this traditional country or modern country. Amazone is a modular limestone tile that replicates the look of a traditional flagstone floor entryway, keep it traditional by using the beige tone with chalk painted wood and wrought iron fixtures. For a modern country touch, change the tile to the grey version and mix in hints of black against a lighter wall colour and add in some rattan woven accessories and clean linen fabrics.

Other Accents

Bring to life any other elements of your hallway with some creative tiling or use of colour. Your coat hooks, cubby holes and even the under stairs cupboard can all become unique features of your home with a little imagination.
