Hayley & Tommys Home Makeover

Recently we joined the Rugby community in helping to give a local family's home a complete makeover following a nationwide appeal. Tommy Lloyd, 11, has muscle wasting disease, Muscular Dystrophy, meaning he and his mother, Hayley Lloyd, faced the challenge of adapting and redecorating their home to make it more accessible. On a mission to make their home a warm and comforting environment, family friend, Jules Griffiths, contacted a number of individuals and businesses alike for donations to make a home uplift into a full home makeover, including our Topps Tiles store in Rugby for their bathroom and kitchen tiles.

Jules, said: “We were overwhelmed with the response we received following our appeal on Facebook for businesses, traders and local communities to assist us in making Hayley and Tommy's house into the sanctuary they deserve.

“I contacted Paige Makepeace store manager at Topps Tiles Rugby to ask for help. She quickly spoke with her area manager and secured the Metro tiles we needed – along with providing the adhesive and grout to create the perfect finishing touches.

“Paige was so helpful and remained in contact with me throughout the process. We can't thank Topps Tiles enough for their help and support in renovating Hayley and Tommy's home!”

Hayley added: “I am totally overwhelmed with our beautiful home and the support of the local community. This has changed our lives and given us a home to enjoy for the future whilst we face the challenges that Tommy's condition will bring. We can't thank Topps Tiles enough for their donation!”

Since Tommy's diagnosis, single mum Hayley has given up her job to become his primary carer. In the past 18 months, she and Tommy have raised over £11,000 for Muscular Dystrophy UK to fund critical research into the condition.  We were only too happy to help Hayley and Tommy renovate the kitchen and bathroom areas of the home and wish them the best of luck for the future.
