Trend alert! We’re seeing more and more fluted and reeded surfaces coming to play in interiors of late. We love this look for a retro themed space or an ultramodern, sleek glass finish. It seems this trend is not going anywhere and is going to be huge in 2021!
Livingetc says ‘You won’t find a flat surface in sight as reeded detail, found on everything from walls to furniture, continues to bring tactility and texture to interiors.‘
We don’t mind this.
We are obsessed with fluted glass and reeded surfaces so we want to show you some of our favourites and the visions we have for this years textured interiors.
Fluted glass is aesthetically a stunning element in a space. It adds a sense of retro timeless glamour while remaining incredibly modern at the same time. You can take this material to it’s fullest with whole cabinets made up of the romantical glass, creating walls of sheer elegance and stunted with matt black framing for a distinct look.
Start your reeded décor journey with simply a few fluted glass jars, candle holders and vases. Up your game with wall lamps that light floods through the waves of glass effortlessly. Either way you’re onto a winner by incorporating this marvellous, both trendy and timeless, material into your space.
P.S Fluted glass hides the clutter in your cupboards the way a standard glass pain wouldn’t!
Our favourite reeded surface is of course, the trusty tile. Not just any tile, but Flute™. With it’s soft tones and smooth curves it completes a room like you didn’t know it needed.
A visual and tactile delight, Flute’s reeded 3D structure decor tile is reminiscent of the glamourous art deco era whilst its contemporary muted colour palette brings a modern edge. Its inimitable ultra matt finish feels as soft as suede both on the riven decor and complementary plain tile. Flute comes in a variety of shades, including a subtle Sage Green and a warming Terracotta.
The fluted surface is so versatile to style, from a natural design style with curves, natural materials like wood and clay and pops of pink a calming peaceful space can be created. Or this tile can be the base of a slick and modern minimal kitchen, with Flute beside matt black accessories and brass handles. The tile commits a reeded surface to your interiors, developing depth and texture, allowing you to create your dream home. The fluted trend is unlike anything else in design, yes we have shapes and textures within our interiors. But to have a seamless fluted material that feels strong while also echoing moments of calm and purity is inspiring. It inspires us to live through our interiors and take risks as well as knowing what makes us feel comfortable in our homes. This trend echoes 2021 and the forward steps we all want to be taking.
