How to update a kitchen with £100

Revamping your kitchen doesn’t have to be expensive, there are plenty of ways to spruce up your space easily and quickly. However, if you have a budget of £100 this is how we would recommend revamping your kitchen.

Paint your walls

The first thing that can start to make any room look tired is the paintwork. A quick lick of paint can freshen up a tired room and is a great way to give your kitchen a revamp on a budget.

If you want to achieve a minimalist or modern look, opt for neutral shades such as bright white or industrial grey. Revamp your kitchen with muted colours such as soft duck egg blue, sage green or cream for a more rustic look.

Regrout your tiles

The second area that is often overlooked and therefore ages quicker is your tile's grout. If it's passed the point of cleaning then look to redo it entirely. You could even change its colour for a completely new look. Read up on what to do using our handing regrouting guide.

Change cabinet handles

Replacing kitchen cabinet handles is another cost-effective way to update your kitchen. Chrome handles lend themselves to a minimalist feel, copper finishings give you a more industrial look and gold and brass feel luxurious.

How to update a kitchen with £500

Refreshing your kitchen doesn't have to cost a fortune. There are simple and affordable ways to give your kitchen a facelift, but if you find yourself with a slightly larger budget of £500, here's how you can embark on a more extensive kitchen revamp.

Create a tiled splashback

A tiled splashback is not only useful and practical but is also a great way to infuse your personality and character into your kitchen. Since a tiled kitchen splashback will only cover a small space, you won’t have to spend a lot of money to update your kitchen. Paint and accessorise

If you have a smaller kitchen and you've got budget leftover from your tiles, then why not paint or refinish your kitchen cabinet doors, it's much cheaper than buying new and better for the environment too! If your budget allows, purchase some new accessories to complete your new look.

Replacing your cabinet doors

Painting your kitchen cabinets is our top tip on how you can update a kitchen on a budget but they might not be too your taste so a little extra budget could go to changing the doors themselves for a completely new look.

If you have a smaller kitchen or simply want to make the most of your space, we recommend going for a light colour. For a completely new look, change the cupboard handles too.

Invest in new kitchen worktops

Purchasing new kitchen worktops is an ideal way to revamp your kitchen. This is particularly good for cooking spaces that look tired after years of use.

There are many worktop options if you are on a budget, the cheapest option being laminate. Not only is laminate cheap, but it is available in a variety of colours and styles, so there is something for all kitchen spaces. On average, laminate costs around £100 per 3-metre* section.

Alternatively, for a more natural look to your worktop opt for solid wood. While this is pricier than laminate at around £500 per 3 metres*, you can create curved edges which are perfect for breakfast bars.

If you have more money to spend renovating your kitchen, consider opting for granite or marble worktops. They are likely to set you back around £800 per 3 metres* and although a little more pricey, they are hardwearing and will give an amazing finish to any space.

Whatever your budget and whatever your taste, revamping your kitchen doesn't have to break the bank. Follow our tips to upgrade your kitchen without compromising on style.
