These tiles are durable, water-resistant, and easy to maintain, making them a perfect choice for a stylish and functional bathroom design. To help get you started, we'll be taking a look at five ways you can incorporate wood into your design with our wood effect bathroom ideas to create a warm and inviting space where you can unwind, relax and rejuvenate.

Does wood look good in a bathroom?

Including wood on your bathroom walls and floors adds an abundance of character and warmth which can create a striking effect in your space. The natural texture and range of undertones mean that wood complements most bathroom colours and finishes.

We’ve got quite an extensive range of wood effect tiles, they mimic different kinds of wood as well as tones, similar to staining real wood as well as different formats enabling you to create different designs. We’ve cherry picked a few of our favourites to introduce you to the range.

Mix wood effect tiles with marble

If you enjoy your beauty routine in luxury, you could consider mixing wood tones with luxurious marble. By cleverly mixing the textures of veined marble with a complementary brown wood effect tile. This look nods to a previous era without looking old-fashioned. You can easily recreate this look with our Pronto Friston Mid Oak Vinyl tile paired with the Torrano Gold tile and gold fixings for a luxury look.

Wood effect tiles and neutrals

Beige bathrooms don't have to be boring. You can use wood effect tiles to create all-over warmth against beige and creamy neutrals to stop the room from looking flat. The textured look of the wood can enhance the colour palette by adding additional tones which are still in keeping with the overall design. The design of our Elevo Natural Chevron tile features realistic knots and veins of wood and pairs with a variety of creamy neutrals whilst its chevron shape creates a striking design.

Play with different laying patterns

Try playing with different wooden tile laying patterns when incorporating them into your bathroom. Herringbone styles have timeless appeal and look great in most bathrooms. Alternatively, wood effect planks can be laid in a vertical laying pattern which can help to make walls appear taller. For a more intricate design, our Adalene tile offers a realistic and authentic wood effect surface texture inspired by traditional parquet flooring for that added level of luxury.

Wood effect panelling

For a modern Scandi look, you could try incorporating a wood panelling tile which creates the effect of tongue and grooves for a seamless finish. Our Skandi Birch Slat decor tile looks stunning in bathrooms of all sizes and it can be used throughout or as a feature behind a shower, bath or toilet.

Separate your space

If you don't want to use wood throughout your entire bathroom, using wood effect tiles in a certain part of your bathroom is a great way to separate your space. Our favourite way to do this is by using the Salvaged Plank Elm Wood Effect wall panel around a bath or shower enclosure which can work to create the perfect rustic spa-inspired bathroom.

Can you mix wood tones in a bathroom?

Mixing wood tones in your bathroom is a great way to ensure the design doesn't feel too flat. Wood tones are considered neutrals so it's relatively easy to mix them within your design.

How to mix wood tones

When mixing wood tones, it is best to pick a dominant wood tone. This could be used on your flooring or as the largest piece of furniture such as bathroom cabinets. If the tone of this wood is warm, it is best to stick with other warm wood tones and vice versa. You can then mix these by including light, medium and dark variations of this which will complement each other whilst still helping to create contrast in the space.
