U-Drain Pro Installation Guide

Share
Offering an easy-to-install drainage solution, the U-Drain Pro system is the answer for modern hard landscaping. The PVC drainage channels are lightweight and easy to cut whilst the anodised aluminium covers offer a sleek contemporary design.

There are two sizes in the U-Drain Pro range, a depth of 50mm or 100mm, both available in a 1m or 2m length. You can also choose between a vertical and horizontal drain.

In this guide, we’ll talk you through how to install both sizes of the U-Drain Pro drainage system.
Preparation
This system is intended for use in the immediate vicinity of a residential building so it shouldn’t be installed where there’s high traffic loads or vehicles.

For the vertical drainage, you may need to install a channel of up to 6m per drain and for the horizontal drainage a maximum channel of 5m. The drainage of the water can also take place into a seepage system, for example, to sustainably improve the water balance of the soil.
Installation
First step is to dig out your foundation, the U-Drain Pro 50 requires a foundation that is at least 50cm high and 14cm wide. For the 100 model, the foundation should be 8cm high and 10cm wide.

Check whether all the installation parts you require are there and lay them on a clean, flat surface.

Next you will need to determine the drainage location. If the drain is vertical, mark it in the right place on the back of the channel using the drain support. Saw out the marked hole using a compass saw. For the horizontal drain, the drain support is fixed as an end piece.

Now you can apply the Pro U-PVC adhesive to create a waterproof seal. Channel bodies, corner pieces, T-joints are universally glued together to the connector. The end caps and drain supports are also glued on using this same adhesive. The adhesive will take approximately 30 minutes to dry.

Insert the grille to check the accuracy of the fit post glueing then remove it again.

Next, you’ll need to prepare the foundation – it can be made of 1:3 concrete, 1:4 single-grain mortar or as a gravel bed.

Depending on the size of the channel system, place the glued system into the prepared foundation. Put the grille back on and ensure it is all aligned.

You can then start to place your Everscape tiles once the foundation has hardened.

See our range of fitting guides for the outdoor porcelain tile range, Everscape, which are categorised by substrate.
