Limestone product care

Formed on the sea floor over many years, limestone is a sedimentary rock. Over time, sediments become buried under extreme pressure, binding them together to form a rock.
How to fix limestone tiles
Limestone tiles, whether on a wall or floor, should be fitted using a suitable Cement Based Powder (C) adhesive. As limestone is usually a light tone, a white adhesive should be used to avoid discolouring the base of the tile and ultimately the overall appearance of your wall or floor.
How to clean and seal limestone tiles
Because of the limestone's high porosity, the tiles require sealing before you grout them.

Clean the tiles first with Fila's Stone Cement Residue Remover, you need to ensure the tile is completely clean otherwise dirt will be sealed into the tile.

Once totally clean, you can move on to sealing the tiles with a single even coat with a brush or roller. Ensure they are completely dry before grouting. For either unpolished or polished Limestone you can use Fila's Natural Look Stainproof Sealer.

Once grouted, you can use the Stone Cement Residue Remover again to remove any remaining residue. Thoroughly clean and dry the tiles and then apply another 2 coats of your chosen sealant to permanently seal them against staining.

For ongoing cleaning, we'd recommend Fila's Multi Surface Cleaner.
