Sockets will mostly affect your wall tiling in the kitchen however, any kind of socket could stand in the way of a perfectly flush wall of tiling if not done correctly. In this article, we tell you how to tile around sockets for a professional finish.

Tiling around sockets is very easy and can be done in a few simple steps.
Step One
Make sure the electric is turned off as you will need to remove the front plate/cover of the plug socket to be able to measure and tile underneath the plug socket for a flush finish.
Step Two
How to cut tiles around sockets is the same as regular tiles, you can see here a full cutting guide. But when specifically tiling around plug sockets you’ll need to leave a 2-3mm gap around the back box of the plug socket. We’d recommend using the DEX Tile Markers to mark your measurements on the back of your tile. Cutting from the back of the tile will help reduce chipping.

An electric cutter with an appropriate blade will need to be used to cut out the shape in the tile, however if the hole is to be cut is in the centre of the tile then an angle grinder should be used.
Step Three
Once the cut is made you can fit the tile as you would when tiling a regular wall tile and then replace the front cover of the plug socket
