How To Install Wood Wall Panels

Share
In this quick and simple how-to guide, we'll show you three different methods of fixing wood wall panels to your walls, along with step-by-step instructions on placing the wood wall panels in place.
Installation methods
Method one
Using an appropriate anchor system for the wall, screw the wall panel in place, leaving a 600mm gap between each row. This method will provide 25% sound absorption.
Method two
The most DIY friendly method, you can attach the wall panel using a nail-free glue straight onto the wall. This method will provide 25% sound absorption.
Method three
Mount the panels to battens placed 600mm apart and then fill the gap with an appropriate installation material, for example mineral wool. This method will provide 60% sound absorption.
Preparing to install your Wood Wall Panels
Step one
You will require some tools to be able to fit your panels, we'd recommend: a Tape Measure, Circular or Hand Saw and Knife. Then, depending on your chosen installation method you will require some of the following: Glue, Screws, Screwdriver and Wall Plugs.
Step two
You will need to measure the height and width of each wall you are placing the panels on. The wall should be straight, smooth, dry and free from dust and fixings.
Step three
Cut your wall panels according to the height of your wall. You will also need to cut slots for fixtures such as light switches at this stage.
Fixing your Wood Wall Panels
Step four
Starting at the far corner, place your first panel on the wall and affix using your chosen installation method. If using screws then you will require at least 12 screws. We'd recommend 3 across the width and then place them vertically 600mm apart down the panel.
Step five
Continue along the wall installing each panel. Once a full panel will not fit, measure the remaining space to the corner.
Step six
Cut the wall panel to fit the remaining width and install as normal.
Finishing off your Wood Wall Panels
Step seven
You can use an extra slat of the matching colour to finish off a panel. The slats have an adhesive backing provided. You can also attach an extra slat on an external corner to create a clean finish.
Step eight

Once you've completed all your chosen walls you might want to install items on top such as decorative products or televisions. If this is the case then you must ensure that the fastenings and fixtures used to hang these items are long enough to pass through the Wood Wall Panel and far enough into the wall to provide the necessary support.

If the fixings aren't long enough then you can cut a hole the size of the bracket into the panel in the correct position prior to mounting the panel to the wall. You should not mount any object to the panel itself.

If you're using a glue method to fix your panels then wait 24 hours until fixing anything else to ensure the glue has fully set.
