How many tiles will I need per square metre?

Share

Firstly, you need to work out how many square metres you will need to tile, measure the height and width of each area you are going to tile with a tape measure, times the two sizes together and you will get the number of square meters you will need.

For irregular shaped rooms, divide the area up into different segments to work out individually, and then add them all together. Measure any doors, windows or obstructions, do the same calculations you used for the tiled area and take the size away from the overall total.

Remember to allow for an extra 10% for any breakages, cuts and wastage. If you are tiling in a brick bond pattern then 10-15% is advised.

On each product’s page on our website, you can select the m2 coverage you require and it will calculate the number of tiles required and give you the option to add extras for cuts/wastage.

If you are unsure just take your measurements (height and width) of each wall you are tiling into your local store who will be happy to help and give any advice you may need for your project.

Here’s a few examples of how many tiles are needed per m².

15x15cm = 44 tiles per m²

10x20cm = 50 tiles per m²

20x20cm = 25 tiles per m²

20x25cm = 20 tiles per m²

30x60cm = 5.56 tiles per m²

60x60cm = 2.78 tiles per m²
