If you’re on a tighter budget or simply prefer the look of a minimalist space, then kitchen splashbacks are worth a look into. They are a single panel piece that you stick up behind your cooker’s hob to help protect the wall behind from cooking splashes. They’re ideal for a quick fix solution or to elevate your existing kitchen.

These single cut panels are available in a variety of designs but also materials, so we’ve put together a quick guide to choosing the right one for your kitchen.for a quick fix solution or to elevate your existing kitchen.

Glass Splashbacks

Whatever splashbacks for kitchens you choose, they can be styled to suit most interior aesthetics, however there are some finishes that suit some looks better than others.

Glass kitchen splashbacks tend to lean more towards a modern interior, this is because they’re made of toughened glass (an uncuttable glass panel), so they are available in a particular size and have a very clean-cut appearance. The glass is usually coloured and opaque, so you can’t see the adhesive on the other side and are naturally quite reflective.

To add them into a heritage style kitchen, opt for a muted colour like olive or copper and style it with worn ceramics, natural looking woods and a bit of greenery, leafy herbs work particularly well. Use these accessories to mix your chosen kitchen glass splashbacks colour into the overall kitchen scheme so the splashback doesn’t feel overly dominant.

Aluminium Splashbacks

Aluminium or alusplash splashbacks serve a very similar aesthetic to glass splashbacks, however the difference is these are cuttable so you can trim them down to a particular size if required. You can then finish them with a trim to create a neat finish. If you don’t want to opt for a colour, you can have the classic stainless steel look which looks great in a minimalist kitchen, or you could go for a faux marble splashback which has a matt finish, this will blend better with different styles of kitchen, but it won’t reflect as much natural light as other types of splashbacks.

Porcelain Splashbacks

If you’ve got your heart set on a stone splashback but your budget doesn’t quite cover it, then a stone effect splashback is your next best option. And to be honest, a better option! Our unique range of porcelain splashback not only look fantastic, as their edges are micro bevelled for a sleek finish without the need for trims, but they are also maintenance free. With real stone, you’ll need to constantly be cleaning and resealing it to avoid staining over time. A porcelain version however is already sealed and protected without the need for additional top ups.

Depending on your style, you can go as dramatic as you like with the look of the stone, for a pared back design, opt for Chroma White, which is a delicate white onyx lookalike. Luna White is your classic white based marble with grey veining. Or, you could go over to the dark side with Elegant Black, a traditional black marble effect, or Chroma Black, a dramatic black onyx effect.

We shouldn’t play favourites, but Spectre Taupe is the perfect warm neutral that will help balance any kitchen colour palette. Its delicate brown undertone with mottled off-white veining and smooth finish lends a gentle finish. For a modern space, pair it with a charcoal unit to make it pop. If you prefer a natural finish then it goes well with oaks and darker walnuts, or, if you want something maximalist or heritage, pair it with a deep forest green, blue or even a burgundy!
