Exclusive to Topps Tiles.
Please note: These tiles have an anti-slip rating of R11.
Most textured tiles will not require sealing, however due to the nature of the textured surface they are prone to retaining grout in the crevices on the front making grout cleaning more difficult. If the grout is not cleaned off correctly, the tile will look like it has been stained and have a grout residue left on.
PREPARE: Before grouting you should apply BAL Protective Sealer, in some cases 2 coats will make grout cleaning an easier process by stopping the grout sticking to the tile. It should be applied with a clean colour fast lint free cloth. The first coat should be left to dry for at least 15 minutes. The second coat must be left a minimum of 1 hour to dry.
GROUTING: Grouting should be carried out using a hard grout float as it is less likely to fill all the voids of the tile with grout. If using a rapid set grout so not allow the grout to sit on the tile for longer than 15 minutes.
CLEAN: After grouting a grout clean up pad should be used to remove any excess from the tile. Once dry the tile should be buffed to remove any final residue. (Grout should not be left in contact with a tile for more than 15 minutes). To remove protective sealer the tile will need to be cleaned at least twice using Tile and Stone Cleaner diluted. This can also be used to maintain the tile for ongoing cleaning requirements.
Acidic or highly Alkaline cleaners are not recommended for maintenance of this tile as they will damage the life of the sealer.
Porcelain in its natural form is textured in order for it to have a polished finish the tile needs to be grinded down and then buffed to a highly polished finish, this creates micro pours that will require sealing. All Polished Porcelain tiles sold by Topps Tiles are micro sealed at the factory unless otherwise stated on the box. This sealer will last approximately 12 months providing the correct cleaners are used. In most cases polished porcelain will also have a transit wax on to prevent damage during transportation, this will need to be removed with extra strong residue remover before grouting.
PREPARE: After grouting for an initial clean, use diluted residue remover for honed and polished stone. Allow the residue remover to sit on the tile at least 10 minutes to allow the grout residue to be broken down. The use of an emulsifying pad will aid with removal of grout residue.
CLEAN: To prevent the build up of deposits it is important that the correct cleaner is used, to maintain the tiles we suggest Tile & Stone Cleaner diluted.
Acidic or highly Alkaline cleaners are not recommended for maintenance of this tile as they will damage the life of the sealer .
*PLEASE NOTE: All of our Polished products have a protective micro sealer applied to them during the manufacturing process which protects against staining. This sealer will, depending on usage, last for 12-18 months at which point we recommend reapplying our Polished Protector to ensure that the tiles stay in top condition. Apply 2 coats with either a brush or a roller, allow each coat to dry thoroughly.
