Not fit for purpose
I used this tanking kit after being persuaded by my local Topps branch. (I'm a professional tiler)
I followed the instructions and applied the mixture to a newly constructed wet room, including an impey shower deck , also purchased from Topps.
The room was tiled as normal, grouted and sealed. My customer was happy.. ... until I got a phone call today from them saying there was water coming through the kitchen ceiling .
Upon inspection, the tiles had not bonded to the shower deck. The Bal product had completely failed, not adhered to the deck whatsoever. This meant all the tiles had worked loose, grout cracked etc.
Very overpriced product that is not fit for purpose and has left me out of pocket.
Stick to a Mapei or equivalent tanking kit with polymer and fabric membrane.

Too difficult to use, not really a DIY product
Almost impossible to mix to a smooth consistency (without a power mixer of some sort). You are against the clock once mixing has started as well.
Applicator isn't very good and I found that whilst applying to an open surface was messy but doable, I wasn't confident getting into corners or edges and it's impossible to get behind pipework or fixtures.
Mine went off about two third's through the job and I had to bin about a third of my mix.
For me the end result on a flat surface was very good and the product itself does the job, however, even for an experienced DIY'er, without a power mixer and good plastering or rendering skills it's too much to take on.
