With over 500 entries to our Show Off Your Style competition, selecting just three winners was no mean feat for our panel of specialist judges.
The competition was launched in February and saw hundreds of talented customers and tradespeople uploading their tiling project before using social media and word of mouth to get as many votes as possible.
Over 21,000 votes were cast by our online community to help determine the top ten, who then went on to be judged by interior design specialist Julia Kendell, Editor of Real Homes magazine Caron Bronson, Help for Heroes representative Sophie Parry and CEO of Topps Tiles Matt Williams.
We're pleased to announce the overall winner of our Show Off Your Style competition is Prakash Valambhia, from Buggs Design in South Harrow! Prakash was awarded the top prize of an iPad 4 and an exclusive home makeover with Julia Kendell which he is giving to his niece who is in the middle of renovating her home. His entry of a luxurious bathroom makeover won the judges over with its skill and style.
Delighted to be named the Show off your Style winner Prakash, said: "I love my job and I was lucky that my client just gave me free reign to do what I wanted, the only thing she specified was the tiles, the rest was down to me.
"My ideas come from things I see when I'm out and about, the LED lights were inspired by a visit to a local restaurant and it was nice to use the leather cloth to make a feature. I hadn't thought about entering the competition until the store suggested it, so I'm really chuffed to have won."
Second prize went to creative pair Eamon and Barley Green from Newark who picked up the first runner-up prize of a Kindle Fire for their beautiful salamander mosaic creation. Barley said, "I was so very thrilled to come second. Show off Your Style was a great competition, it generated a real sense of community and it was nice to see people voting for my project and getting excited about my downstairs loo!"
Leicester-based Hans-Gerd Goldenpfennig, of Goldentiling, won the third prize of a digital camera for his skilled use of mosaics in an area with a dome ceiling. Hans said, "The most enjoyable part of the project was the challenge. I love to create things people might not have seen before. The client wanted a walk-in shower but also wanted something different. She was really happy with the project and said how lovely it is to see the way the light sparkles inside the dome when you turn on the water.
"I had a few sleepless nights thinking about how to create the half bowl shape but the end product was definitely worth it. I'm delighted to have come third in the competition and really appreciative of all the votes from the public."
Judge Julia Kendell said: "It has been difficult to choose a Show off your Style winner as all of the entries showed innovation and a stunning creative use of tiles. We've been so impressed with the standard presented on the site and I look forward to seeing the community develop further."
