A private tour of Pink Peony’s bathroom

This month we welcome blogger Pink Peony to the Topps Tiles blog, she's recently renovated her family bathroom and we couldn't help but have a nosey around and hear more about her tiling journey!

When I walk into our family bathroom, I pinch myself. It's everything I envisaged and more. Having bought a newbuild property some years ago, we found that our bathroom suite was not of a quality we desired, and the tiling had been minimal, only a few feature tiles around the sink and bath panel. It was also cream and magnolia, which just wasn't my style anymore and I'm not sure it ever was.

I dreamed of a sleek, modern suite, complete with freestanding bath, cool grey tones and a feature wall.

Every busy family needs a beautiful space to relax and unwind, but it of course needs to be practical too. I wanted a bathroom that wouldn't look out of place in an upmarket hotel, but I wanted my children to feel at home there too and be easy to maintain.

So, with our beautiful suite chosen after hours of looking through Pinterest, it was time to choose tiles to complement our theme. We found Topps Tiles to have a fabulous collection. We ordered samples with their free shipping service, as it was important to not only see the tiles in real life, but we wanted to check that our main tiles would complement our feature wall behind the bath tub. As there were to be two different types of tiles, it was important to me that we could have the exact same tiles on our floors and walls as I felt three different tiles would be too much. For the floors and walls, I chose a porcelain rectangular tile in Tekno GreyThe matt finish is so much easier to keep clean and the fresh white grout, although difficult to keep clean, looks perfect. They offer the same tile in a stone colour, which we ordered a sample of too which would be perfect for a warmer toned suite.

For our feature wall that stands behind our bath, we chose marble Serac Linear Mosaic in a mixed grey and white finish; they add such a statement to the room and I couldn't be happier.

I couldn't recommend Topps Tiles enough. When we ran out of tiles and needed an extra box of the matching batch, they tracked down the only box left in the country and shipped it up to our nearest store in 24 hours! Now that's what you call service.

My tiler recommended sealing the white grout with a spray which promises to repel dirt and water. I sprayed it liberally over all the grouted areas, left the window wide open and left to dry overnight. If this works, then every household needs it. So far so good!

At the end of the day, nothing is more inviting than a hot bubble bath in our new haven. The only problem is, I don't want to leave! And having an incredible main bathroom has inspired me to create something very similar in our downstairs WC. We have already selected our brand-new Topps Tiles, so watch this space…
