10 Questions With Topps Tiles’ Natural Stone & Mosaics Buyer

Welcome to the second installment in our ‘10 Questions With' series where, this time, we sit down with our Natural Stone & Mosaics Buyer Anna and ask her 10 questions to get to know her a little better and find out what inspires her collections.

1. What's your favourite Topps Tiles range?

There are too many to mention but to name a couple; there's Sophia Dove Damask which an elegant design on marble, with a vintage inspired “wallpaper” effect which creates a stunning feature. Another favourite is Stabledoor™, which is a brand new take on Travertine, blending a warm palette of colour tones in an on trend plank format.

2. What influences the products you develop?

I trust my instincts when developing product, I take inspiration from anywhere and everywhere and challenge myself to work these influences into my product ranges. I have a natural eye for colour and texture plus a real passion for interior design and fashion, all of which build the perfect balance to create beautiful unique products.

3. Tell us an emerging trend we should look out for in 2015.

I like to call it 'Mixage', mixing all different product types together, from coverings to furniture. This can be achieved in many ways, for instance 'mixed' stone (i.e. Travertine, Marble, Slate & Quartzites) for a bespoke feature wall, or mixing a rustic wood floor with a white marble feature wall, then tiling the other walls with concrete effect tiles for a perfect combination of natural finishes that complement each other.

4. What's one piece of advice you'd give to someone looking to buy tiles for their home?

Spend time looking at the style you want to achieve, there are so many interior magazines to get inspired by and remember to be creative, after all, your home is a reflection of you.

5. What influenced your decision to get into Buying?

I've worked for Topps for over 17 years and didn't start my journey knowing I wanted to be a Buyer. However Topps is an exciting place to be and Buying offers a very varied role, always pushing the boundaries of creativity which is a perfect platform for my passion for product to flourish.

6. What's your favourite aspect of your job?

The diversity of my role. Taking concept to actual product, it can be complex and intricate. From a mixture of amazing feelings at the concept stage though to negotiating the best deals for our customers, to hitting time critical deadlines on product launch.

7. If you weren't in the tile industry, what would you be doing?

I always fancied being a hairdresser (again, creative!) but more so now I would say interior designer.

8. Name one thing you can't live without

Apart from my amazing family and friends…..Shopping for clothes; it's one of my hobbies!

9. Tell us something people would be surprised to learn about you.

I am a qualified Personal Trainer & Nutrition Advisor (although not practising!).

10. What does a perfect weekend look like to you?

Has to be family time. I'm a very proud step mum and like nothing more after a tough 'insanity' session on a Saturday morning to snuggle up on the sofa with my step son & my husband for an afternoon of sport on the TV. Sunday's has to be a family roast at my parents.
