Crackled glazing can be traced back as far as the Chinese Song Dynasty known as Guan ware, its distinguishable ‘cracks' in the glaze were often accentuated to look like a pattern. However the Victorians didn't intentionally create crackle glazes, cheaper tiles were used in unseen parts of the home, hairline cracks would eventually appear becoming synonymous with the era. Crackle tiles are now seen as decorative tiles; available in a variety of colours and styles, the Minton Hollins Country Rustic range is perfect in a rustic country setting.
