Hardiebacker 250 Cement Board - 6mm is rated

Superior to others
I bought Hardiebacker board for the first time from the Kingston branch. I had previously bought the Wickes cement tile board but this is far superior. It's easier to cut using the scoring tool I purchased (quite pricey for what it is but effective), easier to drill and most importantly, it's a consistent thickness which makes tiling easier and quicker than on the uneven thickness boards I had used in the past. They didn't have screws in stock so I just used some good quality exterior grade screws to fix the boards. If you make sure your stud work is straight and square to start with these boards make for a firm flat base for the tiles. They are a little more expensive, but they save time and do a better job so are cost effective and I will always use these in future. It's worth brushing a tile primer on the boards before tiling as with other surfaces. I'm preparing to purchase the 12mm version for a job that needs a bit more solidity for heavier tiles.

Will do as specified, but check condition at shop
I had not noticed when I picked the product up from the shop that it's surface had been damanaged. It looked like it had been used before. Luckily I was not using for a tiles. I used this to act as a base for a replacement shower unit.
