The New Metro

The Metro tile has become a cult classic in modern homes and is now the go-to for many homeowners looking for a stylish yet inexpensive tile. This simple tile exudes sophistication and can be used in many ways making it a versatile option. Play with contemporary lay patterns like herringbone and basket weave or create a contrast with a coloured grout for something a little different. The classic white will never go out of style however the Metro tile is a great way to inject some colour into the home and this season we've introduced three brand new colours to our Metro range so you can create a balance between timeless chic and on-trend tones.

Deep Blue

A jewel toned cobalt hue is perfect for adding a touch of luxury to a small space. Use en masse to create a real style statement and pair the glossy finish with a matt marble floor to play with texture and add depth, try our marble-effect Legato tile. The look of the moment is to combine this strong colour palette with gold fixtures, anything mid-century inspired is going to give you a unique but lasting statement.

Berry

Red is another key colour for 2017 however it can be a hard colour to style and can date quite quickly. This berry hue is the perfect antidote; the subtle coral-pink undertones offer a more versatile hue that look perfectly at home in a more rustic country styled room. Mix in some brushed chrome and rustic wood to keep the look warm but modern; a neutral colour palette in the rest of the room will help tone down the look, just avoid anything too stark like bright white as this will immediately create a harsh division in your space.

Jade

Possibly the boldest hue, this contemporary jade green packs a real punch and works really well in a compact space. You can play with proportions by matching your wood colour with the tile which will help widen the room. If your ceilings are a little lower create a border of a lighter tile above to create the illusion of more height. This colour works well with both contemporary and heritage inspired fixtures, invest in a roll top bath for a nod to the classic Victorian bathroom.

Complements

Those all-important finishing touches can really make the difference to the overall feel of a room and can help make an inexpensive tile choice look much more luxury. Our range of capping pieces are available in two styles, a classic rolled edge and a thin modern strip so you can play with proportions, borders and tile finishes to create whatever look you like.
